# Cydonia vs the Claude Code desktop app

> The Claude Code app runs Claude alone and needs a paid Claude plan. Cydonia runs Claude Code next to Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and any ACP agent, and keeps their work as articles and boards.

The Claude Code desktop app is Anthropic's own window onto Claude Code. Cydonia runs Claude Code too, through the ACP adapter for the Claude Agent SDK, alongside agents from other vendors.

## When to pick the Claude Code app

- You use Claude alone and want Anthropic's own app, with its diff review and cloud sessions.

## When to pick Cydonia

- You run more than one vendor's agent, and want them side by side in one window.
- You want work handed out from a board: a card or a whole column goes to a session, and the card shows while an agent has it.
- You want what an agent finds written down as an article in the project, not left in a transcript.
- You want the source, under MIT.
