# Cydonia vs the Codex app

> The Codex app runs OpenAI's Codex and needs a ChatGPT account or an API key. Cydonia runs Codex next to Claude Code, Cursor, OpenCode and any ACP agent, and keeps their work as articles and boards.

The Codex app is OpenAI's own window onto Codex. Cydonia runs Codex too, through its ACP adapter, alongside agents from other vendors.

## When to pick the Codex app

- You use Codex alone and want OpenAI's own app, with scheduled tasks.

## When to pick Cydonia

- You run more than one vendor's agent and want them side by side in one window.
- You want work handed out from a board, and what agents find kept as articles in the project.
- You want the source, under MIT.
